The Photo Problem: Why Buyers Skip Homes They Would Love

A restaurant can have great food and still lose customers when its online photos are dark, blurry, or shot from a strange angle. Many people decide not to go before they ever taste a thing.

One bad photo can make the decision before the meal begins.

That is exactly how buyers treat your listing photos.

Almost every home search in San Diego now starts on a phone. Buyers scroll fast, and your photos get a second or two to earn a click. If they do not, the showing never happens, no matter how great the home is in person.

Here is how to make sure your photos pull buyers in:

Light Sells. Shoot on a bright day with every light on and every blind open. Dark rooms read as small rooms, and small rooms read as overpriced.

Lead With Your Best Room. The first photo is your headline. Put the strongest space first, whether that is the kitchen, the view, or the backyard.

Clear the Counters. Personal items, mail, and small appliances pull the eye away from the space. Buyers need to picture their life in the home, not yours.

The market is fair, but it is not forgiving. Your online presentation is your first showing, and for most buyers, it decides whether there will be a second.

Next week, I am going to share the "Pricing Bracket" mistake that hides homes from the very buyers searching for them.
